On Monday, AAA reported that the state’s average gas price is at $4.293 per gallon. The previous record is $4.292. The current average is $1.37 more than the state’s average this time last year.
It is also close to breaking the state’s all-time record that was set in March.

Montrae Waiters, the AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman, said the prices are likely to remain high.
“Elevated gas prices may factor into Georgians’ hesitation to hit the road this summer,” she said. “Prices at the pump are likely to remain high, therefore, it may be a good idea to start setting aside some money now for upcoming road travel.”
Since last Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by 23 cents to $4.84.
