Three killed, four injured in 7 separate shootings in metro Atlanta over Thanksgiving holiday

ATLANTA — Three people were killed and four injured in seven separate shootings in Atlanta in under a 24-hour period over Thanksgiving.

The violence started around 10 p.m. Wednesday night when a man died after being shot to the head near the Moreland Supermarket on Moreland Ave. Police are looking for anyone who might have seen what happened and can help them find a potential suspect.

Early Thursday, morning Atlanta police say they were called out to investigate a security guard shot near a Northeast Atlanta apartment complex on Woodland Ave. They say the guard was shot in the leg after chasing two Hispanic men he recognized from a previous incident.

Police are still searching for the suspects, described as two Hispanic men in their early 20s

The guard was transported to Grady Hospital in stable condition.

Just after midnight Thursday, Atlanta police were called out to a house on Lakewood Ave. where a man was shot. A witness told APD her husband was shot after an argument with a neighbor at their rooming house.

The witness told officers the suspect left on foot and her husband walked down the street to a nearby fire station to get help.

Police say the victim had been shot in the hand and had several stab wounds but was not able to provide a description of the suspect. They’re still investigating what happened.

Around 1:30 Thursday morning, APD got called to Grady Hospital after a woman who was shot in the back was taken there by a friend. Police say they spoke to the friend who told them they were going to meet someone on the 1500 block of Martin Luther King Junior Dr. in Southwest Atlanta.

The friend said someone shot at their car when the woman was hit. Police say the victim is in critical but stable condition.

Around 5 o’clock Thursday afternoon police say they were called out to a shooting at 870 Mayson Turner Blvd. They found a man shot to the shoulder. The victim was transported and treated at Grady Hospital.

Police did not have details on a suspect or what happened.

Just a few minutes later, police were called to a shooting incident on the 2200 block of Carver Dr. where a man was shot in the chest. They say the victim was transported to Grady, where he later died.

While police were on the scene, they said a man was detained but haven’t identified him as a suspect. Homicide investigators are trying to sort out exactly what happened.

The last call was around 6:40 p.m. when police found a man shot to the head on the 1500 block of Hardee Street NE. The man died on the scene and police say they don’t have much information on what happened or a suspect at this time.
