Woman, child killed in Thanksgiving crash with wrong-way driver on I-75, deputies say

BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that killed three people, including a child, Thursday morning.

BCSO officials said the crash happened around 4 a.m. on Interstate 75 when a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling north in the southbound lanes near the Bass Road ramp.

Officials said the driver of the Tahoe hit a Toyota Camry going southbound head-on. The impact killed the driver and a child, who was in the back seat. Bibb Coroner Leon Jones told WGXA-TV that the child’s father was taken to the hospital and in critical condition.

The driver of the Tahoe was taken to the Navicent Health Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to deputies.

Jones told WGXA that the driver of the Tahoe was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Authorities have not released the identities of the three victims. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
