COBB COUNTY, Ga.,None — A former Marietta nurse has been found guilty of sexually assaulting dozens of unconscious patients and recording the attacks.
A Cobb County jury found Paul Serdula, 47, guilty Monday on all counts he was facing. He faces a 25-year minimum sentence, plus multiple life terms.
Serdula worked at medical offices across metro Atlanta as a certified registered nurse anesthetist. He was initially charged in November 2009 with hiding a camera in the women's bathroom of a Cobb County dental office where he worked. The next week, Serdula was arrested on charges that that he videotaped himself assaulting a 15-year-old girl under anesthesia at the Galleria dental office.
Cobb County police investigators said Serdula had hundreds of videos showing him assaulting and touching patients inappropriately at various medical and dental facilities. Some of the videos showed potential victims, police said.
Cobb County police believe Serdula has also videotaped forced sex acts on women under anesthesia in other parts of the country. He will be sentenced in six to eight weeks.
