STATESBORO, Ga. — A 12-year-old South Georgia boy is dead after authorities said he was hit and killed running after the school bus.
It happened Wednesday morning as the bus was turning into the Stillwater subdivision in Statesboro, WJCL-TV reported.
The Bullock County Coroner told the TV station that the boy was chasing after the bus thinking he had missed it when he was hit by a car coming from the opposite direction.

The boy was taken to East Georgia Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The Bulloch County School District told the TV station that crisis and counseling teams would be on hand at the boy’s school, William James Middle School, to provide counseling support for students, staff, and faculty.
