GA man struck truck parked in emergency lane, killing driver inside vehicle

BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — A man is dead after a traffic collision that occurred on Interstate 16 West, east of Exit 6 in Bibb County.

The accident was called just before 2 a.m. Saturday morning when deputies learned a man inside of a Ford F-150 pickup truck was unresponsive.

Deputies say a 22-year-old man was driving west on Interstate 16 West in a Chevrolet Silverado utility truck. The driver left control of his truck and left the road.

The Chevrolet Silverado struck the Ford F-150 from the rear, which was parked in the emergency lane.

The driver inside of the F-150 was pronounced dead on the scene. The victim was identified as 37-year-old John Patrick Pace of Soperton, Georgia.

The identity of the 22-year-old was not released by law enforcement officials. It is unclear if he will face any charges.
