GRADY COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation released a new drawing of a John Doe victim in hopes to solve a 37-year-old homicide cold case.
The long-opened investigation started in July 1983 when police found a man killed on Highway 93, roughly 10 miles south of Cairo.

At about 7:15 that morning, they found the body of an unidentified 40-45 year old man alongside the road. Investigators don’t say how the man was killed or if they had a lead on any suspect, but have a very specific description of the victim.
The GBI says the unidentified victim was 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighed 160 pounds. He had curly grey and brown hair and a brown mustache. He also had a full upper denture.
Investigators say he was wearing a white V-neck style T-shirt, blue shorts with red trim and basket-weave slip on shoes. They also say he was wearing a gold watch and smoked Camel cigarettes.

The GBI placed photos of the victim in local newspapers around the time they discovered the body in order to get help identifying him. Those efforts were not successful.
Their forensic artist recently finished a color composite drawing of him with the hope it will help in an attempt to identify the victim.
The GBI is asking anyone who might recognize the man or know anything about what might have happened to please contact their Thomasville office at 229-225-4090. There’s also a tip line you can call at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477).
