Jumping jackpot: Mega Millions passes the $1 billion mark for the fourth time

ATLANTA — If you went to bed Friday night with dreams of winning the $940 million Mega Millions jackpot, you can probably roll over and go back to sleep.

Lottery officials announced early Saturday that no one picked the right combinations of numbers for the drawing seen live Friday night.

The jackpot for Tuesday night’s drawing will be at least $1.1 billion ($568.7 million cash).

Mega Millions has had jackpots climb past the $1 billion mark four times in a little over four years.

In January 2021, someone in Michigan won a $1.050 billion jackpot.

The game, which has been in Georgia for 20 years, has only had two bigger jackpots.

In October 2018, someone in South Carolina walked away with the $1.537 billion prize. Then, in July of 2022, someone in Illinois won a $1.337 billion jackpot.

While nobody won the grand prize, more than four million people won anywhere from $2 to $1 million, according to the Mega Millions Consortium.
