MACON, Ga. — Amerson River Park and the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail in Macon are closed until further notice due to severe flooding.
Both areas will reopen once the Ocmulgee River recedes and crews can assess what cleanup efforts and repairs will need to be made.
New rules were recently put in place at Amerson River Park after a recent drowning there.

People under the age of 16 are banned from getting in the river without adult supervision, and all people are required to wear a life jacket when entering the water regardless of their age.
If you live in the area and see storm damage, you are asked to call 478-751-7500.
Officials urge the public not to walk or drive through flooded areas.
