Gov. Brian Kemp began the inaugural charge Thursday at Tallulah Gorge State Park.
The governor, along with lawmakers, executives with Rivian, and Georgia Power gathered in Habersham County.
Kemp highlighted his mission to bring more EV opportunities to rural Georgia.
“This is all a part of the big picture for us to be the EV capital of the world,” Kemp said.
The governor also pointed out the economic impact Georgia parks made during the pandemic.
“They not only learned about these states and destinations, they learned about southern hospitality. They learned about the business environment and why so many people love living in Georgia,” Kemp said.
Since 2018, EV-related projects have contributed $23 billion in investments in Georgia.

Georgia Power is also getting behind plans to drive green.
It’s offering a $250 rebate for customers who install a charging station at home.
“All of this together gives Georgia the confidence they need to visit even more remote parts of our beautiful state and drive clean while doing so,” Georgia Power President and CEO Kim Greene said.
This was the first step in a plan to put charging stations in other state parks.
Currently, they are working on six locations but have a long way to go.
There are 49 state parks in Georgia.
