TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — Police say they have made an arrest after a pregnant woman was shot and killed driving down a busy highway in Troup County.
Initially, investigators told Channel 2 Action News they thought the incident was just a bad accident. But when they looked closer, they saw the car was riddled with bullets.
First responders found Akeila Ware, 29, unresponsive and pinned inside her wrecked car Tuesday afternoon.
“This was a targeted, senseless crime,” said Stewart Smith with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office.
The bullets pierced Ware’s car door and struck her. She ran off the road and crashed into a tree.
