U.S. Census Bureau shows population growing at fastest rate since 2001

United States Census Bureau 2030 census to include new category for Middle Eastern and North African people

UNITED STATES — Statistics say that in the last year, the United States population grew at the fastest rate in more than 20 years, according to the United States Census Bureau.

The census bureau shows the United States population increased almost one percent this year, surpassing 340 million of total population.

Of the 340 million, 2.8 million of those were immigrants.

Here is the how the population is broken down geographically; statistics show the south saw the most growth of all regions thus far as the number increased by 1.8 million people.

The west gained around 688,000 people; the northeast population increased by 435,000 people, while the Midwest was the slowest growing region, gaining around 410,000.
