BCSO says according to a report, Andrews posed as a law enforcement official and told citizens they had a warrant for their arrest and would be arrested if they did not pay a fine.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said Andrews would have her victims pay using cryptocurrency and is the first arrest by their department where cryptocurrency was involved as a method of payment.
They said their Economic Crimes Unit worked with financial institutions and tracked money transfers to identify her.
