John Lewis memorial to replace Confederate monument in the city of Decatur

The task force selected a site on the Decatur square near the Dekalb History Center.

Decatur, GA — Dekalb County commissioners unanimously voted to replace a controversial monument with a tribute to former Rep. John Lewis.

The location is the former site of the confederate monument called “The Lost Cause”. The monument, a frequent source of protest in the city of Decatur, was ordered to be placed in storage by a Dekalb County judge last summer.
