Driver arrested after racing on city streets, being involved in a fatal crash, police say

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — The city of South Fulton has arrested Keenan Crane, 30, after he is suspected of being involved in a fatal accident.

The accident on May 16 claimed the life of Vernal Savoy, 40, of Atlanta.

Witnesses at the scene said that a white Dodge Charger and another Dodge appeared to be racing along Roosevelt Highway near Hunter Road just before the crash.

The driver of the white Dodge was later identified as Crane.

Investigators were able to determine that Crane’s vehicle reached speeds of approximately 127 mph in a zone with a posted 55 mph speed limit.

With the additional details in hand, police took out warrants for Crane on the charges of homicide by vehicle in the first degree, speeding, reckless driving, cruelty to children in the second degree and a seat belt violation.

Crane was still in custody at the Fulton County Jail.
