DECATUR, Ga. — DeKalb County police officials have confirmed one person was shot during an attempted carjacking at South DeKalb Mall.
Channel 2's Eric Philips saw flashing police lights, crime scene tape and startled shoppers when he arrived.
"They were telling us to clear away. They say it's not the right place to be right now," a shopper said.
Police said the victim was shot in the neck and the shooter got away.
"This happens every year, man, at this same mall. It's nothing new, but it's just sad that you can't come out and shop without somebody robbing you or something like that," Trevon Randolph said.
Philips said there were no other reported injuries.
