DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Gunfire hit a DeKalb County apartment building Wednesday night, injuring a girl sleeping inside.
Bullet holes can still be seen at the Windward Forest Apartments in Lithonia Thursday.
The Davis family was awakened in the night by gunfire. Their 10-year-old daughter was hit by one bullet.
“She was hit in the leg,” her father, Kyler Davis, said. When asked how the girl was doing, Davis responded, “She's okay.”
The girl is still in the hospital a day after half after a dozen shots were sprayed into the side of her home.
Davis was at work and his wife was home with their daughter when the shots rang out.
"Everybody was asleep,” Davis said. She said the gunshots woke her up, so she checked the rooms and noticed my daughter was crying. She said, ‘My leg is burning.’”

When asked what message he has for the shooter, Davis responded, “I don't know. It's just stupid to shoot at someone's house. You don't even know the people. You don't know who is in there. He probably got kids too. That's the messed-up thing about. He didn't even think about it."
