LAGRANGE, Ga. — A shootout during a drug deal has left one teenager dead and another injured, but charged with murder.
Police say 16-year-old Nydarrian Laye was killed and 18-year-old Lasabyan Harden was injured in a shooting in LaGrange Thursday afternoon.
Police said the teenagers met at a park at the intersection of Lindsey and Polk streets around 4 p.m. for a suspected drug deal.

During the drug deal, police say Harden shot Laye in the chest. Laye returned fire and shot Harden in the leg.
A good Samaritan was doing CPR on Laye when police arrived. Laye was rushed to the hospital, where he died.

LaGrange police said Harden took himself to the hospital. His condition is unknown.
Harden is being charged with felony murder. As of 1 a.m., Harden had not been booked into the Troup County Jail.
Mildred Simpson told Channel 2′s Michele Newell that she was cooking dinner when one of the bullets went through her kitchen wall.
She said her grandson knows Laye and was the good Samaritan trying to save him.
“He was out there and he said he was trying to help to save him,” Simpson said. “It just hurts. Cause I had a son too, and it hurts real bad. It’s sad. It is very sad to see another child gone like that.”

NewsChopper 2 was over the scene, where there were several evidence markers set up and burn-out marks in the road. Crime scene tape was strung up in the area.
