EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. — Six months after a deadly crash in south Georgia investigators say a 16-year-old boy caused the accident.

The crash happened on Highway 21 at McCall Road in Springfield in Effingham County, on June 17.
According to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, the teen was speeding more than 100 miles per hour, when the crash occurred.

Laura Devisscher and her dog, Bella were killed in the crash.
The teen is facing several charges including homicide by vehicle in the first degree, reckless driving, Class D license restrictions, no seat belt, and cruelty to animals.
Since the suspect is a teen, his name will not be released.
Officials are asking parents to speak with their teen drivers about their driving habits.
“The ECSO Traffic Unit would like to remind parents to speak with their teen drivers about the consequences of their driving habits, as well as the restrictions on passengers who can and cannot travel with Class D license holders,” the sheriff’s office said.
