It happened on Dec. 4, just before 11 p.m., in Muscogee County.
According to GSP, troopers began a traffic stop on a Toyota Camry that did not have insurance. Authorities said as troopers approached the car, the driver, identified as 18-year-old Kamari Gamble drove away.
GSP said this led to a chase northeast on Macon Road. Gamble then turned right at the intersection of State Route 22 and continued eastbound. During the chase, GSP said Gamble tried to avoid the PIT maneuver by ‘aggressively applying his brakes and veering to avoid contact.’

Authorities said troopers successfully executed a PIT maneuver on the Camry on SR-22 near mile marker 14. The Camry traveled into the median, hitting a tree with the back of the car. Troopers executed a felony stop and found Gamble unresponsive, officials said.
Gamble was taken to Piedmont Midtown Hospital in Columbus, where he was later pronounced dead.
GSP said Gamble had outstanding warrants for failure to appear on a drug possession charge.
The incident remains under investigation.
