FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities said they found the body of a teenager hours after he went under the water at Lake Lanier.
Georgia Department of Natural Resources told Channel 2 Action News that the Forsyth County Sheriff’s office and other law enforcement officers were called to Young Deer Creek on Lake Lanier around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities said a 19-year-old was attempting to swim across the cove when he became fatigued and went under. At around 9 p.m., crews used a boat-mounted sonar to find the teen’s body.

Forsyth County’s dive team recovered the victim from 22 feet of water a short time later.
The victim’s name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
