BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — A Barrow County family is mourning the deaths of two loved ones in a devastating house fire. A third man had to be rescued from the flames and is in critical condition.
The fire broke out Friday morning on Wages Road in Auburn.
Channel 2′s Tony Thomas spoke with Barrow County fire investigators about what they believe the victims were doing as the fire broke out.
Firefighters said they are confident this tragedy was accidental, but they will wait for insurance investigators to arrive and determine an exact cause.
“Over the course of several minutes, we found three different people interior. We pulled them out as quickly as we could,” said Capt. Scott Dakin. “I would think possibly they were asleep because you had three victims, but I don’t know for sure.”
