2 adults dead, 3 kids hurt after crash with tractor-trailer in north Georgia

CATOOSA COUNTY, Ga. — Two people are dead, three children are injured and one man is in jail after a crash involving a tractor-trailer in Catoosa County.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, troopers were called to a two-vehicle crash on Battlefield Parkway near the intersection of Three Notch Rd. just before 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Investigators say a Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer, being driven by 47-year-old Joseph Chislom, was driving west toward Three Notch Road.

A Chrysler Pacifica was trying to turn left from Three Notch Road onto Battlefield Parkway when it was hit by the tractor-trailer.

Two people inside the Chrysler Pacifica were pronounced dead at the scene. Three children in car were taken to the hospital and are stable.

The victim’s identities and their relationship to the children in the car have not yet been released.

The people inside the the tractor-trailer did not report any injuries.

Chislom, however, was arrested and charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, driving too fast for conditions and failure to obey traffic control device (red light).

He is currently being held in the Catoosa County Jail.
