PERRY, Ga. — It is a crime that has shocked and saddened many in Middle Georgia. An 18-year-old missing for several days was found dead in a wooded area. Two teens are now charged in his murder.
Samuel Poss was reported missing on Oct. 15 after he didn’t come back from a house on Tucker Road in Perry.
The house belonged to 17-year-old Dakota White, according to WMAZ-TV.
The Perry Police Department put out fliers and Poss' family launched searches for the then-missing teen.
It wasn’t until four days later that Poss’ body was found in the woods in the Lake Joy area.
News outlets cited an arrest warrant saying Poss was killed sometime between 11 p.m. on Oct. 14 and 7 a.m. the following morning. The cause of death is listed as "strangulation, suffocation and/or stabbing."
White and 18-year-old Brandon Warren were both arrested and charged with murder. Both are from Houston County.
Perry police Chief Steve Lynn said at a news conference that Poss was friends with White and Warren was an acquaintance, according to WMAZ-TV.
Authorities have not released a motive in the murder, but they did not believe drugs were involved.

Family and friends described Poss as a "happy-go-lucky kid."
In his obituary, Poss was a "lifetime 'barefooter,' he was always being told, 'put on your shoes!' Through the years, he discovered that music, gaming, and tinkering with computers were the things he enjoyed most. In fact, he was very computer savvy and liked helping others fix their computer issues. Sam was always pleased to be able to assist others."
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for the funeral expenses for the family and honor the teen's life.
