DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Two major crashes shut down parts of Interstate 285 in DeKalb County for the morning commute.

A tractor-trailer caught on fire around 4:40 a.m. shutting down all lanes of I-285 eastbound at Flat Shoals Road.
DeKalb County Fire Capt. Jaeson Daniels told Channel 2 Action News that a truck carrying vegetables hit two passenger cars on the side of the interstate.
Daniels said one of the cars caught on fire. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured. DeKalb County police said the two passenger cars were unoccupied.

Less than an hour after the tractor-trailer crash, another crash caused major backups on the I-285 southbound side.
Police investigated a pedestrian crash near the Glenwood Road exit. DeKalb County police said the pedestrian was killed and the driver stayed on scene.
