Authorities said it started as a traffic stop on Interstate 20 in Carroll County by the Georgia State Patrol. Authorities said the suspects were driving more than 100 mph.

Fernandes learned from investigators that Aaron Shelton was driving the car while Pier Shelton was the passenger.

Investigators say that Pier Shelton used an AK-47 to shoot at the officers during the chase. He was killed in the shootout.

Aaron Shelten is facing 10 charges in connection to the chase. Fernandes learned that he previously pled guilty to attempted murder and robbery in Alabama a couple of years ago.
