PIKE COUNTY, Ga. — Law enforcement officials are investigating a crash that left two people dead Saturday.

Pike County Sheriff officials said deputies responded to a crash on Highway 19 near Pitts Lane at 11:47 a.m.
When deputies arrived, they found that a head-on collision resulted in the death of one person at the scene.

Officials said several people were taken to the hospital following the crash. However, they have not specified how many victims there were.
Later in the day, deputies said one of the victims at the hospital died as a result of their injuries.

The cause of the crash and the identities of those involved have not been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
