20-year-old north Georgia woman missing over a year with few answers

GORDON COUNTY, Ga. — It’s been over a year since the disappearance of a 20-year-old north Georgia woman and her family still has few answers.

Keeslyn Roberts, who is from Chatsworth, disappeared from Gordon County on Jan. 18, 2020. She was 20 years old at the time.

Gordon County police said they got a call about a suspicious woman at the truck stop, but when they got there, she had already left. Police found a purse with Roberts’ I.D. and debit card inside in a restricted area of the business. Family members later found her car at the truck stop.

Detectives learned that there was an outstanding warrant for Roberts arrest in Whitfield County for violation of probation, which was issued on Jan. 17.

Roberts’ father, Eric Roberts, set up a GoFundMe to raise money to offer a reward to anyone with information.

“My daughter got mixed up with the wrong crowd, and got on drugs, no excuses, and was currently on probation when she went missing,” Eric Roberts wrote on GoFundMe. “My Keeslyn is my world and I miss her very much. She is a good kid, with a big heart. She would do anything for anyone. I miss her so much and it’s killing me not knowing if she is safe, dead or hiding.”

Police said there was no evidence at the time that Roberts’ disappearance was connected to the disappearance and death of a man who vanished from the truck stop just days earlier.

Caleb Nathaniel Smith, 21, was reported missing from the Flying J on January 16. His body was found near Sugar Valley in February 2020.

“There is no evidence that these people are/were acquainted, or that these cases are connected. The investigations into these matters are ongoing, and any new pertinent information will be released to the public in a timely fashion,” police said.

Roberts is described as 5 feet 6 inches, 125 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. She has a tattoo of water and a sea turtle inside her lower right arm.

Anyone with information on Roberts’ disappearance is asked to call the GBI, who is now in charge of the investigation.
