FORT MOORE, Ga. — A soldier in western Georgia died after suffering a medical emergency on Friday.
The Maneuver Center of Excellence and Fort Moore are mourning the death of Private First Class Cesar Gonzalez, a 21-year-old Infantryman assigned to Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 58th Infantry Regiment, 198th Infantry Brigade, who experienced a medical emergency during a training event with his company on Friday, October 20, 2023.
Emergency Medical Services were immediately notified and they administered combat lifesaver procedures.

He was taken to Martin Army Community Hospital where he was pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival.
An investigation is underway to determine his cause of death.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Private First Class Gonzalez’ family, friends, and fellow teammates during this difficult time,” Lt. Col. Michael Moore, commander of 2nd Battalion, 58th Infantry Regiment said. “He was an exceptional Soldier and dedicated friend to those around him.”
