COLUMBIA COUTY,Ga. — The United States Geological Survey reported that an earthquake occurred east of Atlanta Friday morning.

The 2.5 magnitude earthquake struck near Harlem, Georgia, in Columbia County around 6:09 a.m.

The earthquake had a depth of 6.8 kilometers, or roughly 4.2 miles.

It’s unclear if residents felt the earthquake.
