COHUTTA, Ga. — Three children were among five people killed when a north Georgia home caught on fire Wednesday morning.
Whitfield County firefighters were called to a home in Cohutta at 3:30 a.m.

Fire officials confirmed that five people lost their lives as a result of the fire.
“On behalf of the Whitfield County Fire Department, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family who has experienced this unimaginable loss,” said Whitfield County Fire Chief Paul Patterson. “We are fully committed to supporting the investigation into the cause of this fire.”
Officials went on to describe the fire as “devastating.”

WTVC reported that three children were among those killed.
None of the victims’ identities have been released.
Georgia Deputy State Fire Commissioner Tony Pritchett told WTVC that foul play is not suspected.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
