MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — A man and two women were killed when a car got stuck on the train tracks near Forsyth Wednesday night.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said a Ford Flex got stuck on the tracks at a private crossing near Goodwyne Road around 6:20 p.m.

A man in another car tried to rescue the two women, but they were all hit by a Norfolk Southern Train.

Deputies identified the women as Shirley Treadwell, 93, Debra Ruth Hall, 66 and Chris Burkett, 47. All three were pronounced dead at the scene. It’s unclear how or if they were related.
“This is a tragic loss for all three families and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers,” the sheriff’s office wrote. “Our deepest condolences go out to the families.”

Norfolk Southern also released a statement to WMAZ, saying:
“We are saddened by this tragedy, and we know these families, friends and neighbors are wrestling with grief. Our thoughts are with them.”
The accident remains under investigation.
Forsyth is about 30 miles northwest of Macon.
