DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating a shootout that erupted at a DeKalb County Waffle House early Thursday morning.
Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach at the scene said police told him an argument started inside the restaurant on Flat Shoals Parkway and then spilled into the parking lot. That is where the shooting happened.
DeKalb County Police Lt. Rod Bryant said they first received call of a person shot at the restaurant around 4:30 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a woman shot and she was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Another two people, a woman and a man, showed up at the hospital with gunshot wounds from the same shooting. They are listed in serious, but stable condition.
Police said Thursday afternoon that they have taken out aggravated assault warrants on two people. Police said the woman who is in critical condition at the hospital is one of the aggravated assault suspects. The other suspect wanted in the shooting is a juvenile. Their identities have not been released.
Police said everyone involved in the shooting was together inside the restaurant when an argument started.
Gehlbach says he saw at least a half dozen shell casings in the parking lot.
One gun was recovered at the scene.
Authorities talked to workers this morning. The entire parking lot is blocked off as detectives collect evidence.
The victims have not yet been identified but Bryant said they are in the late 20s and early 30s.
