4 dead after 2-car accident in Georgia

Georgia State Patrol car Increased troopers are placed on I-75 to help relieve local police.

WILKINSON COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia State Patrol is investigating after an accident in Wilkinson County left at least four people dead.

According to Coroner Billy Matthews, the accident happened just after midnight Wednesday on the Fall Line Freeway at Mt. Pleasant Church Road. The Georgia State Patrol said the driver of a pickup truck skidded into the oncoming lane of traffic and was hit by another car.

The driver of the car, 25-year-old Richard Talbot, from Milledgeville and his passenger, 21-year-old Dalton Merritt of McIntyre, were killed. A third passenger, 27-year-old Dustin Whitley is in serious condition.

The driver of the car, 50-year-old Wanda Peacock of Sandersville, was airlifted to the hospital. Her two passengers, 77-year-old Katie Peacock and 31-year-old Jontavious Ingram, were killed.

Peacock works for the Sandersville Police Department, the department wrote on Facebook. She is now stable.
