5 alleged members of Insane Crips indicted on gang, murder charges in south Georgia

MUSCOGEE COUNTY, Ga. — Attorney General Chris Carr announced Thursday that four alleged members of the Insane Crips gang were indicted on murder and other charges in Muscogee County.

The indictment stems from the shooting death of a 20-year-old man in Columbus in 2021, according to Carr.

The five suspects are facing a total of 52 charges, including violation of the Street Gang Terrorism Prevention Act, felony murder, aggravated assault, criminal damage to property in the first degree and weapons charges.

The Insane Crips gang is a subset of the Crips, which was founded in Long Beach, California. The gang has several subsets and cliques in Georgia, including the Young Foundation Crew and Young Demon Crew.

The alleged gang members arrested include Corey Troupe Jr. (AKA Lil Pop), Elysia Cooley (AKA Big E), Davion Dupas (AKA Yungdemon Dee), Jaheim Davis (aka Zhg Jah) and Mike Brown, Sr. (aka Pop).

This indictment comes on the heels of several gang-related indictments across Georgia in recent months, including the high-profile arrests of rappers Young Thug and Gunna, who are alleged members of the Young Slime Life gang in Atlanta.

“Our Gang Prosecution Unit is partnering with law enforcement across the state to dismantle the dangerous street gangs that are terrorizing our most vulnerable communities,” said Carr. “We will not tolerate this type of violent activity in Georgia, and we will leave no stone unturned when it comes to keeping people safe. Our top priority is to protect our fellow Georgians, and that is what we will continue working to do each day.”
