BERKELEY COUNTY, SC — Several people are facing charges after multiple cats were found dead at home in South Carolina.

On Oct. 6, deputies in Berkeley County, SC went to a home on Drop Off Drive after a woman found multiple dead cats. The woman told officials she fed the cat colony that had been at the home.
The cat colony has been in the TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) program, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies obtained a search warrant for the home.
The following day, the Charleston Animal Society went to retrieve the bodies of the dead cats. The cats were taken to the Professional Veterinary Pathology Services – Columbia and the Michigan State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
During the investigation, detectives identified a person of interest after receiving information regarding a past complaint about the cats.

Officials identified the person of interest as Andrew George Dock. Dock told authorities that the cats were a nuisance and expressed his displeasure with having the cats in the area.
Berkeley County authorities later learned Dock involved four others to help him with killing the cats.

The following were arrested and charged in connection to the crime:
- Andrew George Dock, 28, of Summerville, SC was charged with 13 counts of felony Ill-treatment to animals, with torture and one count of conspiracy.
- Charles Waylon Ulmer, 45, of Dorchester, SC was charged with 13 counts of felony Ill-treatment to animals, with torture and one count of conspiracy.
- Michael Jeffrey Kemmerlin, 30, of Ridgeville, SC was charged with conspiracy.
- Sara Rose Dock, 23, of Summerville was charged with conspiracy.
- Laura Mary Dock, 61, of Myrtle Beach, SC was charged with conspiracy.
