$685 million up for grabs in last Mega Millions drawing of 2022

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — People across Georgia and the country are dreaming about ringing in 2023 with $685 million in their bank accounts.

The final Mega Millions drawing of the year is at 11 p.m. on Friday night, LIVE on Channel 2.

Channel 2′s Bryan Mims stopped by a convenience store in Gainesville and spoke with people snatching up tickets ahead of the drawing.

Alisa Roper works at a Shell station Food Mart and says she’s not missing out on the chance to grab a ticket or two.

Some Food Mart customers had to be reminded about the drawing. Mario Martell stopped it, but almost walked out without a ticket.

“You changed my mind. That’s a lot of money I want to win,” Martell said.

Each $2 ticket is a hope and a prayer for everyone across the country.

Some players already have big ideas for what they would do with the money.

“Buy an island and leave,” Roper laughed.

“I’d probably donate some of it to charity and buy me a house,” Robert Posten said.

The odds of winning are one-in-a-few-hundred-millions, but there’s still a chance.

If you choose to take the cash option, you’ll still walk away with $347.8 million, which is a nice payday.
