Some gates evacuated after 1,000 gallons of fuel spills at Atlanta airport. 

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Some gates were evacuated at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Thursday after one thousand gallons of fuel spilled, according to officials.

Atlanta fire officials tell Channel 2 Action News this happened as a plane was refueling.

The leak has been stopped, according to officials, and airport operation crews are now cleaning up the spill.

Delta Airlines sent a statement Thursday afternoon, saying:

Delta is aware of an issue that developed with a fuel servicing unit Thursday morning at Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson International Airport. Boarding of a nearby aircraft was halted as a precaution and the area closed off while containment efforts were put in place. There were no injuries as a result of the incident and there is no disruption to Delta's Atlanta operation.
