WASHINGTON DC — A lot of people are fed up with airlines.
New data shows a surge in complaints from passengers.
It stems from the summer travel season, where we’ve seen cancellations and delays.
There were nearly 6,000 complaints to the Department of Transportation in just June. That’s a 35% increase from the month before.

Traveler Deandre Jones shared her frustration with canceled flights.
“It’s probably one of the most difficult experiences, and iI felt almost on my own,” Jones said.
Airline staff shortages and FAA ground stops also contributed to the cancellations.
It’s been one frustration for passengers to have flights canceled or delayed. Rebooking them has been another.
Last week, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg sent a letter to airlines calling the summer disruptions “unacceptable.”
Channel 2′s Blair Miller recently sat down with Bryan Bedford, CEO of Republic Airways, who said he too was frustrated.

“Nobody in the airline business is enjoying the kind of delays and cancellations that, you know, the traveling public is experiencing today,” Bedford said.
Starting Labor Day weekend, travelers may see changes.
The DOT plans to better inform passengers on what they can do if their flight is delayed or canceled.
