DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A little girl is back with her parents after police said a family member dropped her off at the wrong day care Friday morning.
Investigators told Channel 2's Christian Jennings that workers at The ROOF learning center called Douglasville police around 8 a.m. because someone had dropped off the 3-year-old and no one knew who she was.
That’s when the Douglasville Police Department took to Facebook asking for help trying to identify the girl.

The post said the child was dropped off by a woman in her mid-20s.
We quickly posted the story to the Channel 2 Action News Facebook page, where it was shared more than 3,000 times by our viewers.
“It took off on Facebook and we believe one of the Facebook shares is what led to a family member seeing it and contacting us,’ said Maj. J.R. Davidson with the Douglasville Police Department.
Davidson told Jennings that the girl’s father called police as soon as he saw his daughter’s picture on social media.
By that point the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services was involved.
After interviewing family members, investigators learned that a relative had accidentally dropped the child off at the wrong day care.
“Once she was inside, the workers realized she didn’t belong there,” Davidson said.
By 6:30 p.m., the little girl was reunited with her family.
“We have released the little girl to her father. She was super happy to see him. She’s healthy and she was excited to see her dad,” Davidson said.
