FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ga. — All lanes of I-85 northbound have finally reopened in Franklin County after a crash Sunday night involving a hazmat situation.
All lanes were initially shut down in both directions, but the southbound lanes finally reopened around 7:30 a.m. Monday.
The Georgia Department of Public Safety said a crash involving a commercial vehicle carrying hazardous materials happened near mile marker 160 in Carnesville.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said they “were not releasing any information to the news at this time.”

Franklin County is in the northeast part of the state along the Georgia/South Carolina border.
It’s unclear what sort of hazardous materials spilled or if anyone was injured.
