LOS ANGELES, Ca. — American Idol crowned a season 21 winner Sunday night in its finale and one of Georgia’s own made it to the final two.
Megan Danielle, who is from Douglasville right here in the metro area, finished runner-up to Iam Tongi during the finale live on Channel 2.

Danielle performed “Dream Girl” which is a country-rock song.

Danielle made it to the competition’s top five at the beginning of the month, then she advanced to the top three last Sunday during the “Disney Week” episode, which aired on Channel 2.
Her hometown has been rallying behind her since she entered the competition.

She made a stop in Douglasville for her hometown visit last Tuesday after advancing to the top three last weekend.
The community celebrated with a parade and pep rally in the Douglasville Town Center to honor the hometown singing sensation.
