‘American Idol’ premiere: 20-year-old singer from Douglasville earns golden ticket

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — A metro Atlanta Christian singer is heading to Hollywood and that wasn’t the only gift she received during her audition.

Megan Danielle auditioned with “You Say” by Christian cotemporary artist Lauren Daigle when the singer herself popped into the audition room to surprise Danielle.

“I hit the jackpot! I got the golden ticket (and sang with @lauren_daigle?!) and I’m heading to Hollywood!” she posted on Instagram after the episode aired.

Danielle grew up in Douglasville and works at the Landmark Country Buffet with her mother. The 20-year-old spoke about the importance of her family, particularly her grandfather Chuck.

She said her grandfather was the “most important person in my life” and encouraged her to pursue Christian music before he died a year ago.

“He’s still supporting me out there.”

The judges complimented Danielle on the grit in her voice and said they can’t wait to see her grow before saying yes to a golden ticket.

Daigle said Danielle’s love for her grandfather is something else they share in common and that her grandfather’s name was also Chuck.

Danielle is no stranger to singing competitions. She previously competed on “The Voice” in 2020.
