ATLANTA — The wife of Civil Rights icon, ambassador Andrew Young, said her husband is in the hospital. Young was admitted into Emory University Hospital Wednesday afternoon after falling ill at an event this weekend in Nashville.
His family told Channel 2's Sophia Choi that Young was scheduled to give the keynote speech at Fisk University on Sunday, when he started to feel ill. He never made it to the school.
Choi spoke with Young’s wife, Carolyn, by phone on Wednesday.
“He flew to Nashville on Saturday. The baccalaureate was on Sunday and he never got to the baccalaureate. In the process of getting ready to go to the baccalaureate, he became ill and they took him to Vanderbilt Hospital,” Carolyn Young said.
