If you think Monday is cold, just wait until the end of the week. Severe Weather Team 2 is tracking some of the coldest weather in metro Atlanta since January 2018.
Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz says an arctic front will move through this week with crashing temperatures and increasingly strong wind gusts.
Wind chill advisories could be issued toward the end of the week.
Stay with Channel 2 Action News throughout the week for the latest models and timing.
Here’s what to know:
- Arctic air moving in will come with strong 30+ mph wind gusts Friday through much of the day on Saturday.
- Wind chills will be dangerously cold Friday into Saturday with wind chills of 0 to -10.
- Temperatures will fall into the teens both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day mornings with 20s for highs Saturday and 30s for highs on Sunday.
Will the cold weather also led to snow? Severe Weather Team 2 says arctic fronts rarely produce accumulating snow, but some light accumulations may be possible.
Areas in the north metro and Georgia mountains could see less than half an inch.
