Arrest made in beating of Georgia State baseball player

ATLANTA — Police have made an arrest in the beating of a Georgia State University baseball player.

The attack happened in October at a Buckhead bar.

Police now say the man who threw the first punch, Nat Paul Gosline, is behind bars.

Dillon Swaggerty, 21, says he was held down and beaten. He was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries.

Swaggerty's mother, Tammy Swaggerty, told Channel 2's Wendy Corona a group of men surrounded him and the girl he was dancing with at Kramer's. The two were shoved to the ground.

"The guys on the side grabbed his arms," his mother said. "The one that did the shoving just punched him and they held him down."

Just the night before, Swaggerty was pitching for the Georgia State baseball team.

"The doctor has told me that the blows he received were very forceful," his mother said.

Police believe the victim's injuries suggest there was more than one attacker.
