ATLANTA — An Atlanta DJ who was arrested last week by East Point police is facing charges of murder in an alleged conspiracy to have his wife killed.
Andre Jason Pugh, known professionally as DJ Awesome, was booked into the Fulton County Jail on Saturday. He is charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit first degree burglary. Pugh's friend, Adrian Harley, of Alpharetta, was also arrested and charged with the same crimes, booking records showed.
The arrests were made less than two weeks after Pugh’s wife, Tiffany, was found dead from an apparent homicide on Nov. 23, East Point police Lt. Cliff Chandler said.
According to a police report obtained by Channel 2's Ryan Young, a 911 call came from the Pugh's home Nov. 23. Andre Pugh told officers that something was wrong. The officers cleared the home and found his wife inside. One of her small children laid on the wife's body before police were able to safely remove the child along with two others downstairs.
East Point police sources told Young they are looking into whether Pugh had anything to do with the murder of another popular local DJ, William Fernando Barnes, shot and killed in January.
DJ Nando used to be one of the main DJs at Club Onyx before he was gunned down in the driveway of his Clayton County home.
Andre Pugh, a New York native, works as a DJ at Club Onyx on Cheshire Bridge Road, according to his website.
