Metro home riddled with about 50 bullets; residents think wrong house was targeted

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Brian Smith was asleep at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday when a barrage of bullets came crashing through the walls and windows of his home on Miriam Lane.

“It sounded like fireworks,” said Smith.

Luckily, his girlfriend and their 18-month-old daughter were in another room.

There are bullet holes throughout his home. He believes the number to be about 50.

“So my head was right here, and that bullet started coming in through all of the glass. Look at the door. Look at the ceiling,” said Smith.

There are holes in the walls, ceiling and cabinets. The bullet holes continue downstairs in a room where an Airbnb guest was sleeping.

She is thankful to be alive.

Smith believes the shooter targeted the wrong house. He gets emotional when he thinks of what could have happened to his family.
