'Atlanta Idol' awards Silver Ticket!

ATLANTA — On Saturday, Channel 2 held local auditions as part of its “Atlanta Idol” contest.

Winder teenager Chandler Tyson took the Grand Prize Silver Ticket award that will catapult him past the open-call auditions for his chance to sing in front of show producers later in the year.

Tyson sang “Yellow Ledbetter” by Pearl Jam for his live audition and turned the heads of the judges.

The Silver Ticket also includes two nights stay in a yet-to-be-named city, plus airfare and spending money.

Five other finalists won front-of-the-line passes to Tuesday’s "American Idol" Bus Tour, which will take place at Atlanta’s Piedmont Park.

Those winner’s include Andrew Weaver, of Bremen; Sarnae’ LaLand, of Riverdale; Larq Womble and Carlton Kell, of Marietta; and Jake Michael, of Kennesaw. The winners can arrive at Piedmont Park any time and will be able to skip ahead.
