Atlanta mayor declares State of Emergency as city continues Zeta cleanup

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms declared a State of Emergency in response to the damage left behind by Tropical Storm Zeta.

As of 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Georgia Power said they have restored power to more than 97% of customers.

Mayor Bottoms' executive order allows for additional employees and city resources to assist in cleanup efforts. The city will have additional crews to help the power companies next week.

The order also opens ATL 311 to open Saturday until 5 p.m. The city order says residents can report downed trees after 5 p.m. to 911 and downed power lines to Georgia Power. The full executive order can be read here.

The City of Atlanta says it has assessed 357 down trees as of Saturday and at least 60 trees have downed power lines. The city expects those numbers to increase.

The cleanup efforts from Zeta are happening all around the metro area.

Channel 2′s Michael Seiden found a house on Habersham Road that was nearly split in half by a massive oak tree. A neighbor told Seiden the family escaped without any injuries.
